Through these subgrants the Department seeks to provide District of Columbia entities, including non-profits, public and charter schools, and certain businesses, modest funding to advance District sustainability goals that the grants’ funding sources require.

For the first year of funding these include reducing waste and supporting urban agriculture. The subgrants emphasize the support of small, new, and/or historically-excluded (SNHE) entities.

All the checked institutions may apply for this grant:

  • Nonprofit organizations, including those with IRS 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) determinations;
  • Faith-based organizations;
  • Government agencies;
  • Universities/educational institutions; and
  • Private Enterprises.
