Mission
The mission of the Dale Heimbach Wheeler Memorial Fund is to encourage and enable projects that strengthen community by addressing the concerns of women, children, and/or families; chemical dependency; and women and violence.
Examples
The following are representative, but not exclusive examples of projects which could be recipients of Wheeler Fund grants:
- projects or programming directly relating to children’s issues, including children’s education;
- family counseling;
- projects addressing the issue of women and violence;
- chemical dependency programs; and
- special projects or programs co-sponsored by organizations such as the Junior League, the YMCA, the YWCA, or other groups with strong interests in families.
Funding Information
Grants generally range from $1,000 to $4,000.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply for funding, an organization must:
- be classified as a charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; or classified as an organization under Section 170(c)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code; and
- be located in or provide service to residents within the seven counties of northeast Minnesota (Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake and St. Louis) and/or the three counties in northwest Wisconsin (Bayfield, Douglas and Ashland).
