The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) is soliciting investigator-initiated research to conduct rigorous evaluation (including both a process and outcome evaluation) of prevention approaches implemented within communities that incorporate efforts to mitigate the harms of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and prevent future ACEs, while simultaneously aiming to prevent substance use and overdose.
Donor Name: Centers for Disease Control
Country: U.S.
State: All States
Type of Grant: Grant
Deadline (mm/dd/yyyy): 01/07/2022
Size of the Grant: $831,250
Grant Duration: 5 years
Details:
This funding is designed to support rigorous evaluations – including both a process and outcome evaluation – to identify effective approaches implemented within communities that incorporate programming to mitigate the harms of ACEs exposure and prevent future ACEs, while simultaneously aiming to prevent substance use and overdose.
This initiative will serve as the first to support rigorous evaluations to identify effective approaches implemented within communities that incorporate programming to mitigate the harms of ACEs exposure and prevent future ACEs, while simultaneously aiming to prevent substance use and, overdose. By Year 5, the project will serve to provide both process and outcome evaluation results, demonstrating the effectiveness of the prevention strategies at improving ACEs and overdose-related proximal outcomes such as linkage to treatment that can ultimately impact the long-term outcomes of substance use and fatal and nonfatal overdose, as well as outcomes including youth substance use, adult substance use, and current ACEs experienced by youth. Additionally, the cost of the community-level programs implemented will be evaluated to inform the sustainability of the programs and feasibility for their scale-up.
