- Basic Needs Grant
- Basic needs grants provide short-term limited support to the most vulnerable individuals and families and include transportation assistance, food bank services, toiletries, emergency and basic health and dental care, emergency assistance programs that provide materials or financial assistance, hunger relief services, short term housing and/or shelter for those experiencing homelessness, emergency or short term shelter for individuals experiencing domestic violence, utility assistance, and birth certificate and driver’s licenses/state ID card programs.
- Capacity Building
- Capacity Building Grants help agencies whose work aligns with Impact and Basic Needs funding priorities to develop the capacity and capabilities necessary to achieve deeper impact with the populations they serve. Activities outlined in Capacity Building proposals must improve the program or agency’s effectiveness to carry out its mission more effectively.
Types of Awards
- Impact
- Purpose: Support the work of programs that align with UWNCNM’s Impact Priorities.
- Award Limit: $25,000 for agencies with an annual budget under $100,000; $50,000 for agencies with an annual budget over $100,000
- Award Period: Three years (contingent on UWNCNM funds)
- Basic Needs
- Purpose: Provide short-term limited support to the most vulnerable individuals and families. Measured in output versus outcomes.
- Award Limit: $25,000 for agencies with an annual budget under $100,000; $50,000 for agencies with an annual budget over $100,000
- Award Period: One year
- Capacity Building
- Purpose: One-time projects to improve agency’s effectiveness and help it carry out its mission more effectively.
- Award Limit: $25,000
- Award Period: One year
Eligibility Requirements
- Certified by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
- Provide health and human services in one or more of the four central New Mexico counties: Bernalillo, Sandoval, Torrance and Valencia. If you are located in Santa Fe county.
- Be in good standing with the Attorney General’s office and the New Mexico Secretary of State
- Demonstrate financial sustainability through UWNCNM Financial Standards Review
