The Litchfield County Center for Housing Opportunity and the Foundation for Community Health are accepting applications for a second round of the Community Engagement Mini-Grant Program. Through this program, towns and community-based organizations will work to deepen affordable housing community engagement and strengthen ties between affordable housing decision-makers and those most impacted by those decisions.

This program has been developed to support municipalities and community-based organizations’ (CBOs) activities that strengthen community engagement and awareness about the effects of and solutions to the region’s lack of housing opportunity. Requests should increase meaningful and relevant community engagement in one or several of the eligible towns (listed above). Example activities include, but are not limited to:
- Contract with a professional facilitator to assist with a community conversation or planning session.
- Contribute to costs associated with a paid social media campaign, newspaper, or radio ad.
- Hold an educational workshop or presentation that helps engage the community in this work.
- Host neighborhood conversations or design workshops to get community feedback.
- Hold a forum to engage the community in the next steps to implement the town’s adopted housing plan (if applicable).
- Provide stipends for community members most directly impacted by the lack of housing opportunity to participate in forums.
- Host participatory arts-driven activities (using the arts as a medium to enhance engagement, understanding, garner feedback, and/or to build community consensus).
- Create a short video and utilize it for community engagement.

- Applicants may request up to $5,000 (larger requests may be considered if needed for the desired community engagement impact)
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible organizations must be:
- A town-sponsored board or committee
- A town government, OR
- A nonprofit or faith-based organization who is partnering with a town sponsored board or governments
- Serving at least one of the following towns in northwest Litchfield County:
- Goshen
- Kent
- North Canaan
- Sharon
