Many of the City’s non-profit organizations provide a volunteer resource that is critical to the support and ongoing success of various City programs and Recreation services. In support of this resource, the City of Cypress has created guidelines to establish a formal and fair method for considering direct and indirect support to community non-profit organizations.
- The criteria that serves as the base for this policy regarding contributions to non-profit organizations shall be:
Utilization of this Grant Request Program, through the budget process, must be made when requesting direct funds or in-direct services of the City - Non-profit organizations must provide Special Event or General Liability Insurance coverage of at least $1 million and list the City of Cypress/Cypress Recreation & Park District as additionally insured.
- Organization’s Bylaws shall not call for the office of a Commissioner or City Council Member to be represented on the group’s Board of Directors or general membership.
- Organization’s Bylaws shall not be in conflict with any state or federal statutes.
- The non-profit organization must have at least 55% of their membership and 55% of their Executive Board members living in Cypress to be considered as highest priority. National organizations that focus on Cypress projects and services may use a member’s Cypress business address in lieu of a residential address to meet the 55% threshold
