Donor Name: City of Weston

Type of Grant: Grant
Deadline: 07/17/2022
Size of the Grant: $53 million
Details:
Broward County received a $53 million grant from the U.S. Treasury to assist residents with unpaid rent and utilities. In May 2022, the Broward County Commission received an additional $22 million in funding from the federal Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP), in an initiative that enables local governments to allocate emergency funding to residents who are suffering financially due directly or indirectly, during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you are behind on your rent or utilities, or unable to pay your current rent, the ERAP can help. Also, if your rent has increased and this increase will cause a hardship, they can now provide three months of rental assistance.
The program provides eligible households with up to 18 months of rent and utility assistance (measured from March 13, 2020) and three months of rent increases (with a notice of rent increase as proof). Funds must be used to reduce the household’s past due rent and/or utility bills before future payments can be made. Once past due amounts are reduced, future payments for up to three months at a time can be considered. The program will not provide funds to residents already receiving federally funded rental assistance provided for the same time period.
Eligibility Criteria
