The Rest and Repair Award is a joyous celebration and a genuine love letter to Black women nonprofit leaders in Washington State who have worked tirelessly – and often without acknowledgment – to make their state a better place for them all to live. They See You, Black Women of Washington. They see your work. They see your grace. They see your strength. They see your good judgment. They want to give you the resources you need to find some ease and heal. To Rest and Repair. To win.
WaWF made five Rest & Repair Awards in 2022 and will make another five in 2023. The application process is nomination based and nominations are open to the public. The Rest & Repair Cohort, made up of Black WaWF members and Black community members, designed the award and will decide the award recipients.
Be aware that they believe in Black excellence, and view leadership as far more than title or public acclamation. They particularly encourage nominations of Black women whose demonstrated efforts on behalf of their community has gone without wide recognition or acknowledgment in the wider world.
