The Women’s Education Coalition is a collaborative of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; the YWCA of Kalamazoo and the former Kalamazoo Network.
The grant can be used to enroll in a professional development opportunity, trade, technology, vocational or certificate program, or an associate’s, bachelor’s or master’s degree program. The grant may be used by part-time or full-time students.

Funds can be used for tuition, fees, books, childcare, transportation, and other educational needs.
Eligibility Criteria
Women residing in Kalamazoo, Barry, Calhoun, Allegan, St. Joseph, or Van Buren County who have had a significant break in their education. Applicants should be able to demonstrate how post-high school education will assist in reaching goals of increased financial independence. Priority will be given to underemployed, working mothers and those enrolling or enrolled in not-for-profit educations institutions.
