Since 1983, the Nevada Women’s Fund has awarded $4.9 million in scholarships to northern Nevada women. Many of scholarship recipients are re-entry women and single mothers who have not had the opportunity to complete their educations due to family issues and/or financial constraints.
Eligibility Criteria
- NWF welcomes applications from women with residency in Northern Nevada. For scholarship eligibility purposes NWF defines Northern Nevada as all Nevada counties except Clark County. (Applicants must upload their Nevada Driver’s License, or Nevada ID for verification purposes).
- Applicants must be attending post-secondary university, college, or trade-school in Northern Nevada or at an accredited online program. If attending a school outside of Northern Nevada, they must explain that their field of study is not offered at any school in Northern Nevada. (For example, Northern Nevada does not have a law school. Women from Northern Nevada attending any law school are eligible to apply).
- Applicants must have a unweight GPA of 3.0 or greater.
- Applicants must upload a copy of their FAFSA SAR Report as part of the application as well as a copy of their most recent school transcript.
- Applicants must be enrolled in school in the upcoming Fall Semester in order to be awarded funds.
- Eligible applications are reviewed by the NWF Allocations Committee consisting of NWF Board members and other community members, and are scored based on financial need, academics, and personal background.
