Funding Information
Grant funds may not be used for the purchase of tools or equipment, academic scholarships or tuition assistance or for high school or college level credit. An Apprentice may request a grant in any amount. However, grant amounts do not usually exceed $2,000. A grant recipient is not required to provide a cash or in- kind match.
Eligibility Criteria
Apprentice must:
- be 18 years or older and comply with AS 01.10.055 state residency requirements on and after the date the application is submitted
- have identified a Master Artist willing to accept you as an apprentice
- demonstrate experience in the art form in which you are applying
- not be enrolled as a full-time student during the period of the grant
Master must:
- be 18 years or older and comply with AS 01.10.055 state residency requirements on and after the date the application is submitted
- agree to accept the applicant as an apprentice
- only act as a Master instructor one time per state fiscal year
- provide support of expertise in the art-form in which the apprentice has applied
- provide recognition by cultural community members of your proficiency and skill in the Native art form in which the apprentice has applied
