The purpose of the Artist in Business Leadership Program is to develop independent, and credible entrepreneurial artists who are generous in spirit. The fellowship supports artists to pursue specific arts business development goals for themselves and their families. They accept applications from artists at all stages of entrepreneurial development.
First Peoples Fund’s Artist in Business Leadership fellowship doesn’t just help artists grow a business – it inspires them to fully honor their cultural creativity and grow the impact it has on their People. They propose a one year project(s) that will strengthen their arts business, further the economic self-sufficiency of their family, and establish themselves as independent and credible artists.
The Artist in Business Leadership Fellowship is designed for emerging and established artists. Artists interested in applying for a fellowship should:
- Be committed to pursuing art as a way to build a business and support themselves and their families.
- Have a strong vision and articulated plan for implementing effective market strategies over the one-year fellowship period.
- Explore new projects and works with this opportunity.
Funding Information
The Artist in Business Leadership Fellowship is a self-directed experience that provides professional development training and $7,500+ of working capital funds.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be an enrolled member or provide proof of lineal descendancy of a U.S. federally recognized tribe, a state recognized tribe, or be an Alaska Native or Native Hawaiian.
- Previous First Peoples Fund Fellows must wait at least one year before applying again.
