The NYSERDA is seeking proposals to accelerate market capacity and adoption of community heat pump systems serving customers in New York State.
Donor Name: New York State Energy Research and Development Authority
State: New York
County: All Counties
Type of Grant: Grant
Deadline: 11/15/2023
Size of the Grant: $4,000,000
Details:
The goal of NYSERDA’s Community Heat Pump Systems Program is to prove the value proposition of connecting a cluster of buildings via a community-style heat pump system, as compared to serving buildings individually via “thermally islanded” heat pumps. NYSERDA will support studies and construction projects that explore and demonstrate the widely replicable use cases for this community-style approach. A community-style heat pump system uses a network of pipes to share heating water among a cluster of buildings, where the cluster of buildings will use that heating water to produce comfort space heating of occupied spaces. This program is open to but is not limited to any of the following features: small (a cluster of ten or more single-family houses) or medium (a college campus, a multifamily residential complex consisting of multiple buildings, an office or medical park, etc.) or large (an urban core consisting of one or numerous city blocks); buildings all owned by a single entity or buildings having unrelated owners; new construction or retrofit of existing facilities; a system owned/operated by a private entity or by a utility or by a public entity or by a public-private partnership.
The solicitation will be competitive with multiple due dates and offers $22.5 million of funding to be allocated across multiple projects in four categories (all four of these categories can receive proposals at every due date):
- Site-specific Scoping Studies
- Site-specific Detailed Design Studies
- Construction
