The Foundation aims to fund community-led solutions that address health concerns with nonprofits in rural communities. This funding area allows to support the specific health needs of organizations and address the social determinants of health. Funding is available to organizations outside the seven-county Twin Cities metropolitan area in Minnesota, in: North Dakota, South Dakota, and western Wisconsin.
The Medica Foundation recognizes the importance of supporting the unique health needs of individual communities in their grantmaking.

The Medica Foundation is focused on promoting systemic improvements in health outcomes. Proposals from organizations exhibiting trauma-sensitive practices and using a strengths-based approach to care are preferred.
Individual grants may be awarded between $5,000 – $10,000.
How The Foundation funds
Grant process for online proposals: Online RFP grant process is open to organizations located in and providing services in the states and Native Nations of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and for organizations whose headquarters are located in the western Wisconsin counties of Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Burnett, Chippewa, Douglas, Dunn, Eau Claire, Pierce, Polk, Sawyer, St. Croix and Washburn.
Who The Foundation funds
To request a grant, your organization must be a 501(c)(3) charitable organization or a public/governmental agency located in and providing services in the Medica Foundation service area. A public agency is an organization established and primarily funded by a unit of government. Examples could include a public school, public health department or state governmental agency.
